Why evidence cannot be deleted directly

Learn why documents, photos and items need approval from the other side before they can be deleted.

A record both sides rely on

Documents, photos and inventory items are the shared record of a home. If either side could quietly remove something, the record would lose its value in a dispute. So these records cannot be edited once uploaded, and deleting them follows a rule: the other side has to agree.

How the sides work

  • Only admins can request a deletion.
  • The tenant side, the landlord side and the owner side are separate. Agents count as part of the landlord side.
  • An admin from the opposite side has to approve the request.
  • If there is no admin on the other side, for example on an owned home, the deletion happens right away after you confirm.

What stays in the record

  • Every request, approval, rejection or cancellation is written to the Timeline.
  • Contract files cannot be deleted at all, because they are part of the signed record.
  • When you delete your account, what you shared stays for the other party.

Bills, timeline entries you wrote yourself and items you created in the last hour are handled differently and can be deleted directly.
