How verification works
Find out how imanino fingerprints and chains every upload, what the Verified badge checks and what it does not.
What happens to every upload
When a document or photo is uploaded to a property, imanino records the time, the person who uploaded it and a digital fingerprint of the file. Each upload is also linked to the one before it in that property, so the uploads form a chain. Files cannot be edited once they are uploaded, and a deletion needs approval from the other side.
If a file or the order of the chain were changed afterwards, the check would fail and show it.
Where you see it
- A shield icon next to a document means Verified. A greyed shield means Not verified, for example while the upload is still in progress.
- A Verified badge with a count appears above your photos. It reads Broken if any photo fails the check.
- Open a photo and tap Verify to run the check on that file. It reports Content (the stored file still matches its fingerprint) and Chain (the link to the other uploads is intact).
- A photo also shows when it was taken, when it was uploaded and by whom, plus its fingerprint, which you can copy.
What verification does not mean
Verification proves that a file is unchanged since it was uploaded and when it was added. It does not prove that what the document says is true, and it is not a legal certification.
